182 EAST 2ND ST.
A two-bedroom apartment in Manhattan
Exposures in all directions and 10-foot ceilings enabled the use of matte grey paint and floor-to-ceiling drapery to subdue and enclose the main living space, entryway, and hallway. The entryway is lined with hand-printed wallpaper and filled with a mix of raw steel, terracotta, plywood, and rubber-coated styrofoam. The dining room offers a lighter reprieve of oiled douglas fir, stainless steel, mirror, HDPE, and cadmium yellow. The living room is defined by a solid walnut daybed, concrete coffee table, and mohair lounge chair.
